Santa Fe

nm-1nm-2nm-3nm-7nm-8nm-9nm-11nm-4nm-10nm-6nm-5A recent trip to Santa Fe found me to be in New Mexico during one of the biggest ballon festias in the world & if you are looking for a long weekend trip in October this is your spot.

STAY: La Posada de Santa Fe- This Tribute Portfolio property is just a few blocks from the Historic Plaza & the art gallery lined Canyon Road. Cozy up in one of their many adobe style rooms with one of my favorite hotel features: the fire butler- just a quick call and someone is on had to build a roaring fire that will keep you warm when the tempature is sure to drop. Enjoy a handcrafted margarita at Staab House and make sure you dine on some amazing carnitas taco on the patio! Award Winning Spa Day- a must…think GLOW body salt scrub & VIT C Brightening Facial.

TO DO: Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta- Every year in early October a week long fiesta takes place just a 20min north of downtown where you can catch dawn patrol/mass assension in the morning and glow in the evening. We hit the morning of the Special Shape Rodeo which I highly reccomend to see the fun & uniuqe balloons such as butterflies, dogs & even Darth Vadar. Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks Nation Monument- Easy hikes & great view points if you feel up to getting in touch with nature. Turquoise Trail- take a scenic drive and stop by the town of Madrid for some great antiques & unique finds. Georgia O’Keeffe Museum- just a few blocks from the plaza take in the works of this wonderful artist of american modernism. I picked up a print of her Horse Skull with White Rose.

EAT: Hands down best meal of my trip was at the famed Geronimo on Canyon Road- Telicherry rubbed Elk Tenderloin is a must and thier signature dish for a reason. Best brunch can be found at Chez Mamou French Bakery & Cafe. For some great comfort food along with a view of the plaza head up to Thunderbird Bar & Grill…margaritas on point.
