If you ever wish to social distance again when this is all over then Waitomo Hilltop Glamping is the spot. Located on a farm on the North Island of New Zealand. I found this gem on instagram when researching our trip in October 2018 & enjoyed “roughing it” for two nights.
INCLUDED: large custom safari tent, queen size super comfy bed, day bed (for additional guests), bathroom with flushing toilet, shower & toiletries. Outdoor kitchen & pizza oven with a few treats daily: herbs, 4 eggs, milk, butter, fresh homemade bread, tea/coffee & a smores kit. Also the insta-worthy two soaking tubs overlooking the hills.
WHAT TO BRING: there is no electricity at the campsite…so no wifi. We brought extra portable chargers (there is one provided in case) & downloaded a few movies to the ipad so we had nightly entertainment. Food- we stuck to charcuterie snacks such as hummus, veggies, cheese & crackers. *Made the best grilled cheese with their bread & butter. oh and wine….lots of wine.
WHAT TO DO: visit the famous glow worm caves (cool but not worth a day trip from Auckland like most do), if you do the rafting adventures then yes. Marokopa Falls was a lovely stop on our drive around the area.
