This award winning Relais & Chateaux property is located on the Waikato River on the north island of New Zealand. This was a stunning stop on our drive from Cape Kidnappers to Auckland.
ROOMS: there are junior lodge suites all with direct river access, walk in closets & beautiful bathrooms with a soaking tub (and heated floors!). The lovely Alan Pye Cottage has two large suites & includes a full kitchen, study, large dining/living area + a private heated pool. For even more room, with 4 suites, stay in the Owners Cottage.
DINING: rates include a full country breakfast along with pre dinner drinks & canapés plus a five-course gourmet dinner. There are over 20 dining venues around the property to choose from. The first night we enjoyed our meal in the library in front of a roaring fire. The second we requested the ‘green room’- an outdoor secluded space with views of the river.
EXPERIENCES: on site you can enjoy tennis, croquet, hiking & biking but for more exclusive experiences choose from helicopter rides over a volcano or private fishing charters.
