I was invited down to Grand Velas Riviera Maya for their first ever destination wedding training & looked forward to experiencing this fabulous property and how this is the best place to say ‘I Do’.
SUITES: there are 3 ambiances at the property- Zen: family friendly jungle atmosphere located off the beach. Ambassador: family friendly beach and pool view rooms. Grand Class: adult only section with 90 ocean front suites w/ plunge pool and an impressive 1,300 sq feet! All suites come with personal concierge, complimentary wifi & 24hr room service.
DINING: with eight… I say again EIGHT restaurants to choose from you can sample unique cuisine every night (or just order a ton of room service) . Quick rundown: Frida for modern Mexican, Piaf classic French or Sen Lin for Asian fusion- dim sum, pad thai & curry – my favorite spot. Italian at Lucca, Cocina de Autor for a creative tasting menu, then you have Bistro, Chaká & Azul for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Poolside snacks are the best- grab a burger, shrimp tacos or enjoy some sushi- sometimes from a tray they bring around.
SPA: of course a world class resort would have a world class spa. The main spa located in the Zen section complete with water ceremony and tons of treatment options. I indulged in a pool side cabana massage which was great to be al fresco but as it’s above the ambassador section so a bit loud sometimes with the kiddos. Another option is to have a mini massage treatment without leaving your Grand Class lounger.
WEDDINGS: whatever your big day vibe Velas Weddings can make it happen. Garden rehearsal dinner, beach ceremony then a terrace reception or any combo you wish. I loved both set ups they did for us each night and the catered meals were divine (no rubber chicken here).
