UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya claims to be a one of a kind, all-inclusive hotel that connects you to the youthful pulse of the local culture…and in fact it does just that! This adult only property has become one of my favorites in the Riviera Maya and here’s why…
ROOMS: all rooms come equipped with local handmade sunhats you can get custom painted poolside, the best sweatshirt style robes (that I am currently writing this post in) & an outdoor Jacuzzi tub on the balcony (except swim out). Of course I had to get a large breakfast spread & a few late night items from the impressive room service menu. The daily replenished snacks of snickers, granola bars & pistachios were a nice touch…oh did I mention Ferrero Rocher at turn down-it’s the little things.
DINING: Mi Carisa- Italian favorites like caprese salad, fusilli pesto & wood fire pizzas. Cueva Siete- elevated Mexican cuisine from chef Lula Martin del Campo. Start with fun custom cocktail menu and end with the Mayan Coffee. Mura House- wonderful sushi, noodles & teppanyaki tables. 20.87 breakfast of chilaquiles & waffles with unlimited mimosas – sushi starter for lunch everyday and the biggest juiciest burger! At night 20 87 turns into a steak house. Pool/Beach Side service can be ordered via their app- tacos, tacos, tacos. Located in the lobby is Bar Balam (meaning jaguar in Mayan) that creates bespoke cocktails for guests- you can finish by dancing the night away at Palmera Lounge.
ACTIVITES: unique to this resort are Signature Tours: Guided Tour of Chichen Itza & Cenote, Zip Lining or Swim with Dolphins just to name a few. We did the express cenote tour and highly recommend. If you do stay on property you can look forward to popup bloody mary bars, DJ accompanied by a saxophonist poolside & live art exhibitions.
SPA: one of the best water treatments so splurge on the 90min Volcanic Stone Massage and thank me later. You can book your appointments in advance with me or also the app. Use your in room coupon to create a custom scrub, lotion or after sun cream before or after your treatment.
WEDDINGS: at the helm is Marylen Exposito, a Miami based wedding planner who brings her expertise and eye for detail to UNICO. My favorite feature is the “unplugged ceremony” where guests place their phones into a locker while the couple says I DO….they want you to enjoy that special moment and you can instastory and facebook live the reception later!
