Cape Town is a vast city with many suburbs that surround Table Mountain so renting a driver for the day is best or be prepared to taxi to the various areas of town. Highlights of my visit include:
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront: tons of shops and restaurants located at the harbor
Table Mountain: on a clear day take the cable car up for some of the best views of the city (note it is extremely windy and cold so no matter what time of year bring a jacket)
Lunch at Camps Bay: Trendy area that is perfect for lunch overlooking the beach.
Bo- Kaap: head over to this neighborhood to stroll through the colorful rows of houses.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens: Located at the base of Table Mountain the gardens are extremely lush and fragrant and a wonderful stop on a cool morning.
Scenic drive to Cape Point: stopping for views of Hout Bay, visit the penguins at Boulders beach and finally ending up at what seemed like the end of the world.
