El Dorado Resorts: Adult Only
Royale– Over a mile of beach, 12 pools & exciting on site activities this property is only 25min from the Cancun airport but seems worlds away. PRO: Onsite greenhouse that grows produce used on all the properties-Lush landscape with plenty of romantic spots to relax CON:Rooms need a bit of updating. Beach is rocky but they offer a salt water pool for swimming.
Casitas Royale- Located next door to the Royale the Casitas are on enclave of rooms where each section has a pool & swim out bar to enjoy along with a personal concierge. PRO: secluded fee throughout the property, outdoor shower in every room, Gourmet Corners- little areas serving salads, sandwiches & pizza for those mid day cravings. CON: As they are currently creating a barrier reef there are obstructed views in the ocean.
Maroma- To be completed in September 2016 the first over water bungalows in Mexico will be featured at this property. The first section of the Palafitos will house 30 suites, a gourmet restaurant & spa just for those guests. On one of the best beaches in the world this boutique style resort has a range of other accommodations to suit any style that include beach front villas & infinity pool suites. PRO: Treat yourself to a Sky Massage that allows you to relax steps from the ocean- even at high occupancy you feel like you are the only guest. CON: with construction of the Palafitos the beautiful beach needs a bit of TLC.
Seaside Suites- Newly renovated this is a unique resort in that there are only 2 room categories: Oceanfront Infinity Pool Jacuzzi Suites & Oceanfront Swimout Jacuzzi Suites. PRO: every room has an ocean view, largest spa’s in the area CON: not much privacy as all infinity pools link together
Generations Riviera Maya- Connected to the El Dorado Casitas & Royale this ALL suite, ALL butler, ALL gourmet resort is one of the best in Mexico. PRO: the butler service is impeccable, top of the line wedding locations: beachfront chapel, sky deck and oversize pier. CON: construction of the barrier reef right off the beach
AZUL Hotels: Family Friendly
Beach- Perfect for the little ones this resort has the Nickelodeon Experience throughout including a playhouse. All baby amenities such as cribs, strollers & highchairs are also included. PRO: Newly renovated rooms & pillow menus. CON: geared towards kids I would choose Fives for teens
FIVES- Incredible selection of eateries some located in the new Plaza (mini 5th Ave) & one of my favorite bars NINETEEN TEN: a cantina with beautiful tiles, Frida everywhere & delectable margaritas. PRO: Best resort for all ages, larger condo style rooms CON: 10-15min walk to the beach area from your room.
Sensatori Mexico- Great for a multigenerational family the large property features a premium & adult only section. This feature is perfect for Destination Weddings so guests can choose their experience. Also features Le Chique- a AAA Five Diamond experience that is an additional cost & open to the public. PRO: 3 large pools with lazy river & tons of on site activities CON: Coral reef makes the beach not the best for swimming
