I had never heard of this private island oasis till my recent trip to Tahiti & part of its charm as that most people haven’t either. After a 45min fight from Papeete then a breezy 35min boat right you arrive at this luxury Relais & Châteaux property full of beach villas and over water bungalows.
Rooms: The entry level room is an over water bungalow…jackpot! It’s a well appointed space with the bed being the center piece that faces out to watch the sunrise, sunset or overlooking nearby Bora Bora. The Bath products smell heavenly and I may have horded a few for my trip home. One of my favorite features of their beach villas would be the outdoor shower and seclusion that comes with it.
Dining: Worth the splurge is the canoe breakfast…enjoy a jaunt around the lagoon while your fruit platter, omelets & assorted pastries are laid out on your private deck. If you wish to enjoy breakfast in the main restaurant Le Vanille you will not be disappointed in the buffet- this is also where we enjoyed dinner with one of the best tuna sashimi of my trip.
Activities: Taha’a is known as the Vanilla Island so one of the best days I had was taking a tour to a local pearl farm, vanilla plantation (try the rum….do it), snorkeled with stingrays & sharks along with having lunch in the middle of a sandbar. Ask for George 1 & George 2. Le Taha’a is also next to a coral garden that you can drift snorkel through.
Spa: Although I did not partake in a treatment those that did said the outdoor ambiance made the massage.
