SEE: Although Milan did not make the best impression and is far from my favorite Italian city there a few things to see if you are swinging through this business/fashion hub…

Duomo- the gothic style cathedral is the crown jewel of the city and a must see. Purchase the Duomo Pass for access into the church along with the lift up to the rooftop. TIP: This might be the only time I recommend going to an attraction later in the day…the line after 4pm is non existent.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II- located right next to the Duomo this glass roof arcade is considered the oldest shopping mall in the world. Home to Gucci, Prada & Versace along with many cafes/ gelato shops this is the perfect place stroll through on a warm summer day.

Quadrilatero d’Oro- this shopping district in Milan is a must…even if you can’t splurge at every store the window shopping is worth it and you can find some unique vintage shops in its alleyways.

Bosco Verticale- with over 700 trees, 5,000 shrubs & 11,000 perennials this vertical forest via two residential buildings are something to see.

EAT: iconic dishes must be had while in the city- Risotto & Cotoletta (veal) alla Milanese along with Aperitivo Time aka Happy Hour

Settembrini 18- a few blocks from Milano Centrale this is the spot we had one of the best seafood antipasti boards along with the best Cotoletta of the trip. No frills to be had but with great food and house wine I highly recommend.
Noblesse Oblige- momma in the front of house while son is in the kitchen & lavender everywhere. The chef/owner comes to every table to greet you and tells you the specials along with what didn’t make it in for the day. When I told him I was craving a light pasta with some seafood he went off menu and whipped me up one of my favorite dishes of the trip!

Norin Caffe Bistro- stopped here for a quick aperitivo but stayed for dinner as the staff was so fun and boasted that they make the best pizza in town…I think they were right.  30 different kinds to choose from and it was one of the best I have ever had so this place is a MUST!

STAY: I love me a Luxury Collection hotel and the Excelsior Hotel Gallia is just that. Sleek modern design with spacious guest rooms and a fun staff kept this 5* property not too stuffy.

Located right next to Milan’s central train station this hotel boasts some incredible amenities- for starters the complimentary Maserati house car that takes you to the Duomo/city center when ever you like! An expansive buffet breakfast was enjoyed every morning along with an Aperol spritz on the rooftop every evening.
