~the Retreat~
I was invited to experience the brand new Celebrity Cruises the EDGE who has made her Caribbean debut out of Fort Lauderdale FL. It was just a quick two night inaugural sailing so I know I didn’t even scratch the service of this state of the art ship. I hit most of the highlights and unique features in my 48 hrs so here they are…
STATEROOMS: you have all your basic categories from the celebrity brand- interior, ocean view, veranda along with Aqua & Concierge class but a first for Celebrity are the infinite verandas. These rooms have a floor to ceiling window that can convert to a balcony with a touch of a button. Edge Villas– two story room with outdoor plunge pool and direct access to *the Retreat. Royal Suite– one of my favorite rooms that has a living/dining area along with luxurious soaking tub. Iconic Suite- if you are willing to shell out the big bucks & want over 2,500 sq ft of indoor/outdoor space then you can snag one of two on board. There is also a Penthouse, Celebrity & Sky Suites to choose from: with a Suite you have additional amenities such as the private dinning room Luminae along with access to *the Retreat. This is a private lounge, pool, bar & sundeck for suite guests only.
MAIN DINING: I love how the EDGE is changing up the traditional one main dining room to have four options in the evening. Cosmopolitan- new American cuisine (short ribs….get-the-short ribs) Normandie- French fare Cyprus- Mediterranean and seafood focused Tuscan- modern Italian like strozzapreti carbonara & octopus carpaccio YUM.
SPECIALTY DINING: endless options…Rooftop Garden Grill: lunch or dinner of BBQ favorites, pizzas & salads. Fine Cut Steakhouse: upscale atmosphere with the best of seafood & cuts of meat on board. Raw on 5: everything from oysters, caviar to sushi rolls. Le Grand Bistro: traditional French café where you can get your crepe fix that then transforms into Le Petit Chef at night where the table comes to life as your dish is prepared by, you guessed it, tiny animated chefs.
MAGIC CARPET: you know that bright orange deck that is just hanging off the side of the ship? You can disembark with the tenders, have lunch & cocktails along with dinner on there depending on which deck it is stationed on.
BAR/LOUNGES/ENTERTAINMENT : Located in the Grand Plaza the Martini Bar is the place to be in the evenings. Check out my highlights on my Instagram thejetsetredhead to see the bar light up & watch them poor 8 martinis at once! Sunset Bar on the aft of the ship is the perfect spot for an aperol spritz. The Club- not your ordinary dj/dancing space but can become a laser maze & the nights are themed. Five rotating shows performed twice a night in the Main Theater- I was impressed with HYPE, a lively musical performance featuring Marcus Terell.
EDEN: chillful, playful, sinful- not sure how to describe this space…it’s just something you have to experience first hand but during the day you can grab bites to eat and relax with 3 story window views of the ocean then it transforms into an interactive space with edenist– wild performers made up of singers, aerialists and some who steal/collect pillows or shower you with flower pedals (seriously). Cocktails are served in treasure chests & forbidden apples.
GUEST APP: control your experience via your phone. Stateroom: digital key, dim your lights, temperature control or open your curtains. Make dining reservations or shore excursions. Keep track of onboard purchases. Everything is now at your fingertips!
